Education and Training
Lorena graduated from University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior. She went on to pursue and earn her Master’s Degree in Marriage, Family Therapy from Alliant International University in Irvine, California.
Lorena has been providing psychotherapy for 11 years. She previously worked at Chino Human Services where she provided psychotherapy to individuals, families and couples. Lorena facilitated anger management/ social skills groups with children and adolescents within the Chino School District. She also co-facilitated court mandated drug and alcohol groups for at-risk youth. Lorena also worked at a non-profit agency providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, college students, adults, couples and families. She spent a brief time providing therapy to individuals in convalescent home settings and to individuals within the workers compensation program.
Lorena specializes in treating trauma in all age groups including children, adolescents, college students and adults. Whenever possible, Lorena believes in including family members to create greater, lasting change within the individual and family dynamic. She is also trained and certified in six Evidenced- Based Practices to help treat symptoms related to depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, substance abuse and parenting difficulties. Evidenced-Based Practices include Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Depression Treatment Quality Intervention, Managing and Adapting Practice, FOCUS: Family Resiliency Training, Positive Parenting Program, and Seeking Safety. Lorena is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy typically used for treating trauma and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) typically used for couples. Lorena also has experience with clients dealing with adoption issues, sexuality issues, school/work stressors, ADHD, self-esteem issues and medical health issues.

Lorena’s experience and training has solidified her understanding that all clients present with different strengths, experiences, values and cultural identity and she adjusts her therapeutic approach accordingly to fit each client’s individual needs. Lorena strives to provide a comfortable and safe therapeutic environment that facilities growth and progress.
