Biography for Sylvia McQuade, LCSW

Education and Training

Sylvia McQuade has a Masters Degree in Social Work from San Diego State University and is licensed in the State of California as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Sylvia has been licensed for 16 years and has had extensive experience working with persons in crisis many who have survived abuse and trauma.  She worked for 15 years in a psychiatric hospital with youth, families and adults. In addition she has managed and developed many intensive programs for youth and their families. Sylvia also did private practice for approximately 10 years.   She has had extensive training in crisis intervention and stabilization.

Experience and Specialties

Sylvia specializes in doing individual and family counseling with adults, children and adolescents and marital counseling. Sylvia has had more extensive experience working with youth and women who have been abused and/or traumatized. She has facilitated many groups and workshops specifically teaching life skills to help empower youth and adults. Also she has facilitated groups for survivors of abuse and /or domestic violence.

Professional Speaker

Sylvia has worked as a manager in the mental health field for 7 years where she enjoyed speaking for various community agencies and school districts on various topics including suicide prevention, life skills, grief and loss, communication, education on mental illness and how to access services for various populations including the homeless.

Personal Comments

Sylvia is very dedicated to her faith and family. She has a husband and 2 children a daughter,  age 9 and a son, age 12. She is committed to the helping profession of counseling and her constant prayer is that she be guided to be an instrument to do Gods work and assist in the healing process of others.
