Biography for Lori Lira, M.A. LMFT, RPT-S

Lori is the Founder and Clinical Director of Chino Hills Counseling, a Christian-based counseling center located in Chino Hills, California.

Education and Training
Lori Lira has a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and is licensed in the State of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Lori also has a specialized certificate in Play Therapy from UCSD and is a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. In addition, Lori is trained in EMDR both Level I and II. This type of therapy is an empirically validated treatment for traumatic experiences. EMDR has been shown to be helpful in a wide variety of circumstances from treating combat veterans, and persons with phobias and panic disorders, to treating people from excessive grief, child abuse, sexual assault, chronic pain, addictions, weight loss and much more.
Experience and Specialties
Lori specializes in relationship therapy working with individual adults, children, and adolescents. She is also a trained marriage therapist working with couples, and families dealing with a variety of issues. She has also been a speaker and parent educator in the Positive Discipline Approach for parent groups like MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and Mom-to-Moms. In addition, she has been a speaker for several pre-school staff educational in-services, and at church workshops/seminars. She is a member of the New Life Network and has been a facilitator for New Life Ministry in their “Wives in the Battle” program where she would perform intensive group therapy with women whose husbands’ experience problems with sexual addiction. She has also been a group facilitator for the “Lose it for life” conference, where she worked with individuals struggling with compulsive over eating and ongoing weight control problems.

Personal Comments
Lori’s greatest joy is her faith and family. Raised in a Christian home she holds dear the values she was taught at a young age and is actively involved in church. With her musical talent of singing and playing the guitar she ministers in church as a worship leader. Lori has a committed and loving relationship with her husband Ken and has two lovely daughters, Laina and Lindsay.
